Dannie Donkey In The Den（深井裡的驢子）

Dannie was a sweet, gentle two-year-old donkey.
He always followed his master to the market to help him carry goods.
 

Dannie 是一隻脾氣好且個性溫和的兩歲驢子。
他總是跟隨著他的主人到市集去，幫他背負貨物。

One day, on the way back from the market, he fell into a dried well.

有一天，再回家的路上，他掉入了一個乾凅的井裡。

The well was deep and dark. Dannie Donkey was very scared.

這個井又深又黑，Dannie害怕極了。

His master tried all kinds of ways trying to save him out of the well.

它的主人試了各種辦法，想要將他就出井來。

He tried and tried but nothing seemed work.

但無論是了什麼方法，就是無法將他救出。

He finally decided to give up.
He thought to himself” I’d better cover this dried well, so no one else would fall into the well again.

他終於放棄了。
他想：我最好將這井封起來，才不會再有人掉到井裡。

He called some friends and got some dirt and started to cover the well with dirt.

於是他找來朋友，用泥土開始將井填起來。

“What in the world is that” said Dannie.
“ Are they going to cover me with dirt?”

「這到底是怎麼一回事啊？」Dannie 說著
「他們要用土把我埋起來嗎？」

“ Am I going to be buried in the dirt and die?”

「我要被活埋然後死去嗎？」

“Why there’s no one having mercy on me?”
“ No, I don’t want to die. What should I do?”

「為什麼就沒有人同情我？」
「我不想死，我該怎麼辦呢？」

Dannie was crying as hard as he could.
But it didn’t take long that he changed his thought.

Dannie 斯聲竭力的大喊，但不一會兒，他就改變了他的想法。

Actually, he had not much time to think about it.
He just started to shake off the dirt on his back.

其實，他並沒有太多的時間去想。
它只是開始把他背上的泥土抖下來。

Little by little, but surely, he came higher and higher every time people put dirt into the well.

一點一點的，但很確定的，每次有人將泥土到進井裡，他就更高一點。

“Here I am!”
我在這兒！
With a big smile on his face, he triumphantly walked out of the well.
它的臉上帶著大大的笑容，抬頭挺胸的走出了乾井。
Every body was surprised but surely happy to see him.
每一個人都驚訝不止，卻也非常高興地看他走出來。

Just shook off the dirt on his back and not felt sorry for himself.
Dannie not only save his life but also gave everyone a good lesson—

Shake off whatever looks bad on you and let it be a foot stool instead a foot stone for you.

就這麼不自憐地把身上的泥土甩掉，Dannie不只救了自己一命，也給大家上了一課，甩開看起來看似不好的事情，讓他成為你生命的踏腳石，而不是絆腳石。
